Teacher Training

"For me the teacher training was a gift to myself: to consolidate many threads of journey and create space for deeper levels of integration and peace. The lessons and connections continue to surface, one year on, and I feel immense gratitude to Brigitte and the amazing selection of international maestros who so graciously shared their energy and expertise. This coast has an elemental energy that combined with Solstice Yoga Center offer a unique and unforgettable yoga experience."

"The Solstice Yoga Center's teacher training was the best gift I've given myself in years. I came away with enough information to process through the rest of my life. It was a fabulous setting for an extended stay and I look forward to returning one day and studying with Brigitte once again."

"When you find teachers who don´t display their own path nor tell you what to do, but instead they walk beside for you to reach and fall in love with your own path, they inspire you to go deeper and remember who you are and continue transforming yourself, then you know that you are in the perfect time and place. Thank you with all my heart Brigitte Longueville and David McAmmond. Once again..."

"The Teachers Training at Solstice Yoga Center has been a determining experience in my life and in my yoga practice. The strong natural surroundings, Brigitte´s years of experience and the outstanding teachers that gathered together allow personal practice to develop with firmness, deep knowledge and multiple opinions. If I could, I would attend all of Brigitte's trainings, it has been one of the happiest times in my life."

Yoga Classes

"Solstice Yoga Center is located on top of the hills surrounding San Agustinillo. The center has a very big room with an amazing palm roof where you can find a complete collection of tools to practice yoga positions.

All the teachers of Solstice Yoga Center are very professional. Thanks to all them for the beautiful moments we had during the classes! "

"Solstice Yoga Center, in San Agustinillo, has a fantastic teacher named Brigitte. She uses all kinds of props to align you, and gives clear Spanish and English directions in her cute Dutch accent. I left feeling an inch taller..."

"After a long journey I arrived in San Agustinillo. About an hour later, I was in a yoga class and already thinking, ok, this is a place I could stay for a while. Five sunsets later, I was finally on my way to Puerto Escondido.
I'd love to go back for one of the retreats and definitely recommend it!"

Workshops/Seminars/Intensives

"What I learned at the Solstice intensive
Driving my car, eating and even sleeping, I never noticed the natural tension in my shoulders while doing even some of the activities that are supposed to be some of the most relaxing. Now, after Brigitte Longueville’s intensive, I have become more conscious of these tension areas my body has created.
For me, yoga has helped me to understand my body, how it works and ways to make each and every muscle work better together to create one fluid being. However, because of the Back Mitra and concentrated muscle work, I have become more aware of how to help conditioning them to work better for other muscles and my body as a whole.
It was interesting to see that the years of tension in my shoulders have created a “compaction” in my chest not allowing the mobility that should be in those areas. Knowing there is too much strength in my lower back, which helps me to understand why some poses come more easily and others are harder because my lower back does not flex, or relax, to allow me to properly execute the asana how it was intended. But over the course of the days I also come to the understanding that it was ok to have these problems, as long as you work to help them.
Brigitte’s expertise in muscle therapy is also evident by her repetitive asana series. Her conditioning seems to train your muscles over time. Each day, after the first two cycles, the ability to repeat them seemed to be endless.
I think what I took away more from the intensive, however, was a “mantra” that Brigitte instilled in me without even knowing it. The phrase “this is work” is something I now repeat to myself at times to realize that sometimes it is work to help release what we need to find that perfect balance on and off the mat."

Retreats

"My partner and I spent Christmas 2012 week long restorative yoga retreat with Brigitte. We had such a great experience that it was over before we knew it and we had to stay on for a few extra days. This was our first yoga retreat and it far exceeded all of our expectations. It is not the typical yoga that we do in Canada and the USA with lots of flow and movement. Brigitte increased our awareness of every muscle in our bodies and how they relate to the postures we have been doing for so long, but not really understanding.
Many of the participants had been here before and were returning for the 3rd or 4th time. By the end of the week we certainly knew why. We hope to return as well. "

"I discovered Solstice Yoga Center by chance when searching for a Christmas yoga retreat. I was not disappointed.

The yoga: Intense, especially for a beginner, but the instruction by Brigitte and the two teacher trainers, was outstanding. I felt very well supported and encouraged when overwhelmed and the retreat was definitely a great introduction to the practice of yoga.

The food: Wow!!! My body felt so great and cleansed at the end of the retreat. The food was fresh, clean, natural and beautifully presented. I try to follow a vegan diet whenever possible and the cooks were more than willing to accommodate myself and other guests at each meal.

The accommodation: La Loma Linda is a beautifully constructed, eco friendly accommodation on a hillside overlooking the beautiful surf of Zipolite. The landscaping is beautiful, the owners and staff friendly and helpful, and the rooms clean, natural and calming. The four legged members of the La Loma Linda family were a wonderful addition to the relaxing atmosphere.

All of the components of the Christmas retreat were impressive and I had a rejuvenating and relaxing experience. I left Zipolite and La Loma Linda knowing that I will find my way back there in the future. It is definitely worth a second trip. "

"Recently returned from a five day yoga retreat which as a yoga beginner was a special opportunity. Brigitte was an excellent and patient teacher plus her two assistants: Sue and Gustavo. The routine was what I was hoping for: meditation, breathing exercises and asanas to challenge. More advanced students were given more challenging work to do; there were even a couple of yoga instructors in the class. I made major progress including greatly reducing my back curvature.

The facilities were excellent. The yoga room is set up high with wonderful, open air views. All necessary equipment was supplied. Meals were taken there as well which helped develop a rapport among the group. "

"I had a wonderful time here - I had been dreaming of some warm white beach for several months, so it was great to spend a week in the open air, complete with bucket bath and yoga. I feel stronger and inspired to do more yoga when I get home."

"I followed a 5 day retreat with Brigitte in 2008. It was located in another setting then, but the content is probably still the same. Luckily so!
I was a beginner at yoga and meditation and had never done pranayama. Actually, I was a bit afraid I would enter a world of "goat wool sock" type people.
The morning started early, in silence, with an hour long meditation which was slightly guided by Brigitte. It felt so at ease I had no trouble sitting for an hour. After that, the second hour she guided a pranayama session. Then we had a really healthy and tasty breakfast with muesli and fruits before we went on with our yoga session. The BackMitra again was new to me, and although difficult and a bit painful at first, really lengthened and straightened out my back! Amazing!!
Brigitte is very knowledgeable & patient, she sends out a pleasant energy and made me feel at ease. On top of that, our group went on a trip by boat to see whales. A lot of fun.
All in all one of my better travel experiences! "

"I attended a yoga retreat in Solstice Yoga Center given by Brigitte during my Easter vacation in April.
It was a great week and I learned a lot. I arrived stressed out and stiff and left relaxed, empowered and inspired. The group was small, and to my delight, a lot of young, savvy Mexican women who were all bilingual and 3 men, two from the US and one from Holland, who was quite funny. We were hosted by Brigitte, Guy, and their daughter Nierika, and the mealtime conversations were always good, and in several languages!"
